Data Analysis

Data Analysis

We examine data to discover trends and findings that are useful to decision makers and the general public.  Our services include processing large datasets, linking different sources of data together, and transforming data into descriptive statistics and information products.

Research Design

Research Design

We collaborate with researchers from a range of disciplines to identify ways in which our data warehouse and analytic capacity can be used to develop knowledge about what works to improve outcomes for individuals and communities.  Researchers can conduct secondary analysis of existing data as well as collect new data that leverages our existing holdings.

Data Visualization

Data Visualization

We make data easy to understand through the creation of graphs and charts.  These products are designed to communicate information visually, to make complex datasets coherent at a glance, and to reveal details and/or comparisons that provide insight into key issues.  These products are designed to improve knowledge and promote evidence-based action.

Web Application Development

Web Application Development

We operate web-based tools that democratize data and increase access to information.  Online applications such as the RI DataHUB and the RI Community Profiles improve data access for decision makers, stakeholders, and the general public.  Through these applications, we are facilitating better data use and leveling the playing field among entities and individuals who seek to advocate on specific issues.

GIS Mapping

GIS Mapping

We love producing maps.  Whether they are static or interactive, maps can help tell a story that goes beyond the presentation of traditional graphs and charts.  Mapping allows for the display and overlay of numerous variables and provides a geographic context that is essential to formulating strategy within a population or target area.

Data Systems Development

Data Systems Development

We simplify data usage and management through the creation of linked systems that advance rigorous analysis across otherwise disparate data sources.  This approach allows for integrated data analysis (the connection of numerous datasets across entities and/ or sectors) as well as longitudinal data analysis (the ability to examine changes over time).  We employ the latest in data security methods to ensure privacy and protect confidentiality.

Report Development

Report Development

We publish a variety of products (data stories, issue briefs, infographics, reports, and scholarly articles) that shine a light on critical public policy issues.  Our data product development process includes a rigorous examination of historical data as well as focused engagement of key stakeholders in conversations about what steps are needed to improve future decision-making.

Our mission –– to connect data and people to inform, empower, and inspire innovative decision making –– is a bold undertaking that can only be achieved through strong and durable partnerships that are based on cooperation, trust, and transparency.

Every phase of work with DataSpark involves collaboration and dialogue.  First, we listen and begin to understand what your needs are.  Then, we listen some more and work with you to identify precisely what you are trying to accomplish. From there, we outline how our skills, capacities, and resources can be deployed to support your goals and objectives.  This process will often include identifying other partners or stakeholders that may be needed to create the best possible team.  A review of similar projects, best practices, and national models is often incorporated into the planning process. In this way, we ensure that we have jointly developed a clear path to achieving your goals.

DataSpark is eager to work on a range of projects from one-on-one to multi-stakeholder, from big to small.  We are equally comfortable working on short-term projects that require agility and multi-year projects with complex scopes.  Whether it’s a map or infographic you are looking to develop or perhaps a large-scale research project in which our data resources are needed, we aim to provide our clients with impeccable service and great products that are delivered on time and within budget.  And equally important, you’ll be as happy with the process as you are with the product.

If you have a project that you are ready to start now or an idea that you want to float, contact us! We are ready to work with you and offer a creative approach to your project.
